Susan and I are planning a trip to Europe next year. We anticipate flying from Seattle to Amsterdam with a two day stop in Iceland on the way. After a couple of days playing tourist is Amsterdam we’ll board MS Eurodam for a 22 day cruise including ports in the UK, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, St Petersburg, Finland, and Germany. The cruise finishes in Copenhagen, Denmark. That’s when the real adventure begins. We plan to rent a car in Copenhagen to drive north to Alvdalen, Sweden where my ancestors originated, and where I still have cousins. In fact the farmhouse where my great grandfather lived with his family before emigrating is apparently still there. From Alvdalen we’ll continue north and west into Norway to visit the farm and area from which the Estvold family emigrated.

Researching the families and communities through various online sources is an interesting and challenging process. Fortunately I have quite a bit of information on the Sehlin family tree provided by family members. On the Estvold side I had only a few names and basic information to begin with. I have been fortunate to contact a local amateur genealogist in Verdal, Norway, who has be exceptionally helpful locating a wealth of Estvold family information.

I plan to post the information I am able to compile. Select either the Estvold or Sehlin button above to see what I have. The date on the button indicates when that page was last updated. You are welcome to download any of the information or photos.

VALIDATION

Some names you see here may be gone
- but shed no tears

     for all this information does
– is validate the years

     The years gone by filled
-with love and life

     Some with laughter
-some with strife

What really matters – is

      THEY WERE HERE!!!!
